Limping Around
As I write this, H is limping around the house, so happy and proud of himself for walking again. I am glad he is mostly recovered. I think this will help his mood considerably, and it will certainly lighten my load.

Split Decisions
Hunter split his lip this afternoon, and this event turned into his first visit to the emergency room.
He was crawling around, and I heard him bump into something. It wasn't a big thud, but he was crying, so I knew he was hurt. He wasn't crying that hard, so I didn't rush over to him. At this age, he is frequently falling down and bumping into things. When I saw a drop of blood on the floor, that got my attention.
I thought that his lip was bad enough for them to either put a stitch in it or at least glue it, but the concensus was that it was best to do nothing. The ER nurses told us that they thought nothing would be done, but they checked with the doctor on duty first. He told them to talk to a specialist at a hospital in another town, and his opinion was to let it be, as well. So, Hunter's first trip to the ER turned out to be rather uneventful. They said it will heal on its own, and, because he is so young, it should heal quickly.

The drop of blood on the floor that told me this was more than just a bumped head. These pictures don't look so bad, but he had blood all over his face and hands when we strapped him in to go to the hospital. I didn't pause to take a picture beforehand, so you will just have to believe me. I am just glad that he is back to getting into everything like a normal, curious explorer.

Busted Lip

Thursday, less than an hour before we were supposed to leave for a birthday party for a friend of mine, AJ tripped and busted his lip. There was blood all over his hands and face, and I couldn't tell at first how bad it was. Once the bleeding subsided, this is what it looked like. The lip was not nearly as swollen the next day, but it sported a nasty scab. I am just glad no stitches were needed.
