Finger Painting

This morning, all three of my kiddos woke up with fevers. Oh, yay. For this reason, we kept them home from school this morning. Instead, we broke out the fingerpaint. Kristen's and AJ's approach to finger painting are vastly different. Kristen will use one finger, dip it in, paint, then wipe off the excess before proceeding. AJ will use one finger, dip it in, paint, use another finger, dip it in, paint, use another finger, dip it in, paint, etc. When he runs out of fingers, he reuses the ones already covered with paint, making his older sister upset that he is "mixing the colors." When they are done, Kristen has a paper with the colors in different areas of the paper. AJ's paper weighs about five pounds and is covered with unnamed and unnumbered colors of paint, created by his method of mixing and painting. Of course, toward the end, Kristen discovered that AJ's techniques are a lot more fun. :) WHAT A MESS!

I had told the kids to wash off their hands when they were done. Apparently, AJ didn't get everything off his hands, so he used his towel to finish the job. And he wasn't done with the fingerpaint. They were still painting, but they were intermittently "washing" their hands.

The sink actually got much worse than this.

AJ's hands at one point. Apparently, he still didn't think he had enough paint on there, so he got more later.

Kristen painting.

AJ painting. Notice his multicolored fingers.

Kristen when she decided AJ's way was more fun.

Kristen had gotten her hands messy on purpose for a picture.

The chaos toward the end. Believe it or not, there is paper underneath all that paint. These "precious" pictures got thrown away. The paper was so wet, it tore.

AJ's hands toward the end.

HB! Jennifer. If I could I would gift you clean laundry and clean kids. Aaah! Such is the price of creativity.
